Once in the wilderness Christopher has complete freedom and control over his life. In this scene we see Christopher hunting and in the following scene we see Christopher eating his catch. This shows how much effort it is needed to make just to hunt an animal and eat a meal, while in the civilization food is very accessible and therefore taken for granted.
